Puerto Rico Surf takes bodyboarding to another level at Pine Grove beach (English).
On August 2, 2026, Puerto Rico Surf held a bodyboarding clinic at Pine Grove Beach in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, bringing together participants of all ages and skill levels. From beginners to intermediate bodyboarders, individuals with special needs, and especially aspiring young athletes, had the opportunity to learn, practice, and above all, enjoy an experience that will stay in their memories.

The day began with an interview with the clinic's instructor, Galdo DK Gómez, who shared part of his journey as an athlete, his achievements in the sport, and his vision as a bodyboarding instructor in Puerto Rico. His experiences served as inspiration and motivation for all those looking to continue developing and enjoying this exciting sport.
Learning Before Entering the Water
The clinic was divided into two parts: 30 minutes of theory and 30 minutes of practice. During the theoretical session, participants formed a semicircle around the instructor to receive explanations and demonstrations on some of the fundamental bodyboarding techniques.
Among the topics covered were the "sapito" or duck dive, the correct posture for performing a cut on waves from both the left and right, and the basic and advanced techniques of drop knee. Each explanation was aimed at helping participants better understand the movements and, subsequently, practice them safely and effectively.

From Theory to Waves
After the theoretical session, one of the most anticipated moments arrived: entering the water and applying what had been learned. The participants launched themselves into the waves of Pine Grove, accompanied by a group of collaborators who were attentive to assist and guide them during the practice. The main objective was for each participant to improve their bodyboarding skills while enjoying the surf beach safely.
Among the collaborators who made this experience possible were: Mathew Martínez, Joshua Castro, Manuel Mathews, Evita Romero, Saúl Torres, José G. Martinez, Pulpo Colón, Ten, Omar Acosta, along with other individuals who dedicated their time and energy to support the participants.
The beach transformed into a scene filled with enthusiasm, laughter, learning, and lots of surfing. Children, young people, and adults enjoyed the waves and had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge that motivates them to continue practicing and developing in bodyboarding.
Beyond the techniques learned, the clinic demonstrated the power of sport to create community, share experiences, and open spaces for inclusion, allowing people with different levels and abilities to enjoy their passion for the ocean together.

A Day to Remember
The clinic concluded with a special thanks to all participants for their participation and for being part of this initiative. Puerto Rico Surf also highlighted the work of Galdo DK Gomez for sharing his knowledge and experience as an instructor, as well as the valuable collaboration of all the volunteers who contributed to ensuring that children, youth, and adults enjoyed a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience.
Without a doubt, the bodyboarding clinic at Pine Grove was much more than just a simple class; it was an enriching experience of learning, inclusion, camaraderie, and passion for the waves. Puerto Rico Surf continues to invest in the development of bodyboarding in Puerto Rico and in creating spaces where new generations of athletes can discover, learn, and enjoy this sport that connects our community with the sea.
